{"id":434919,"date":"2024-11-10T11:12:52","date_gmt":"2024-11-10T16:12:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saturdaydownsouth.com\/?post_type=article&#038;p=434919"},"modified":"2024-11-10T11:12:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-10T16:12:52","slug":"eli-drinkwitz-trolls-bob-stoops-after-win-over-oklahoma","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.saturdaydownsouth.com\/mizzou-football\/eli-drinkwitz-trolls-bob-stoops-after-win-over-oklahoma\/","title":{"rendered":"Eli Drinkwitz trolls Bob Stoops after win over Oklahoma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saturdaydownsouth.com\/coaches\/eli-drinkwitz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eli Drinkwitz<\/a> had some fun at Oklahoma&#8217;s expense following Mizzou&#8217;s 30-23 win over the Sooners on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>When Drinkwitz took the podium to make his opening statement in his postgame press conference, he called back to a comment made by former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops earlier this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Before the start of the 2024 season, Stoops was talking about Oklahoma&#8217;s introduction into the SEC and was making the point that the program wouldn&#8217;t be intimidated by joining a league that included Missouri and Texas A&amp;M \u2014 2 teams Oklahoma was largely dominant against when they faced off in the Big 12.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe beat the hell out of Missouri, all of a sudden now we\u2019re supposed to be afraid of them?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saturdaydownsouth.com\/oklahoma-sooners\/bob-stoops-blasts-narrative-that-ou-should-be-intimidated-by-sec-we-beat-the-hell-out-of-missouri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stoops told ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Well, Drinkwitz remembered that comment in the aftermath of Missouri&#8217;s triumphant win on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This will be real disappointing to Bob Stoops, but OU doesn&#8217;t always whoop Missouri&#8217;s ass anymore,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Mizzou?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Mizzou<\/a> coach Eli Drinkwitz&#39;s entire opening statement: &quot;This will be real disappointing to Bob Stoops, but OU doesn\u2019t always whoop Missouri\u2019s ass anymore.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Eli Hoff (@byEliHoff) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/byEliHoff\/status\/1855469640278802544?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>That win marked Mizzou&#8217;s third win over Oklahoma since 1984. However, the Tigers have now won 2 of the last 3 meetings in this series.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps more importantly, the Tigers are still in the mix for a College Football Playoff berth with just 2 losses.
